The June 10, 2017 General Meeting of the Science Fiction Association of Bergen County was held at Barnes & Noble in Paramus, New Jersey. The Writers' Space Salon was held in the store's cafe. The Ice Nine Discussion and meeting proper were held outside the second floor event room.

Author Jason Starr was our speaker. Mr Starr is primarily a mystery writer who also writes media tie-in novels (Ant-Man and Gotham), graphic novels (several different publishers) and horror (THE PACK and THE CRAVING). There are currently two television series and one Broadway play in development based on his work.

While Mr Starr has had a a successful career, he has experienced plenty of rejections. Rejection comes with the territory of being an author and is the most difficult part of the occupation. Our guest has saved every rejection he has received.
