The following account is reprinted with permission from THE STARSHIP EXPRESS Copyright 1989 Philip J De Parto:

Twenty six people came to see the slide show of artist Craig Farley at our September 9, 1989 meeting. Among those in attendance were artists Tom Kidd, Jael, and Lissanne Lake.

The presentation lasted for about an hour and a half. In addition to the many slides shown, Mr Farley brought a quartet of completed paintings to display.

Mr Farley began his slide show by explaining the rather unlikely series of events which moved him into becoming an sf illustrator. He also answered questions throughout the show and elaborated on comments made by his wife and the other artists present.

The weather was unseasonably hot, so the meeting ended early. Most of our attendees joined our guests for a bite to eat afterwards at the Horizon Diner.

Robert Hepperle played a videotape of the costume parade at the world science fiction convention before the start of the meeting. Roberta Rogo had a table from which she sold her fanzines. The artists had a table from which they peddled prints. Newcomer Mindy Richards and long timer Douglas Yeager brought along books and magazines which those present were invited to help themselves to.

The Association welcomes new members Jonathan Bayer, Steve Boggess, Richard Dotter and Melinda Richards to our ranks.

Michael Nelson, Steven Boggess, and Robert ("There Must Be A Mistake, I Never Win Anything") Yeager won free door prize books.
