Three straight hours of pouring rain and weather-related traffic accidents contributed to a rather low turnout for our August 12, 1989 meeting. Fortunately our guests, James Baen and Toni Weisskopf of Baen Books, were among the 18 souls who did brave the elements.
Jim and Toni held an informal talk and question and answer session with the S.F.A.B.C. They talked about new titles Baen would be releasing, old writers like James Blish whom they have scheduled for reprint and current headliners like Lois McMaster Bujold who are doing well. They also asked for suggestions and reactions to some future Baen projects.
The site of the meeting was moved from Dunkerhook Park to the Saddle River Valley Cultural Center due to the weather. Dan Adler involved a number of people in a mystery game he had brought. Robert Hepperle was of invaluable assistance when the smoke alarm went off from cooking.
