Christmas Rhymes

Again, as in the year before

Here are the rhymes by Theodor.

These verses may ring in as bright

as angel's song at Holy Night.

When incense scent is spreading out,

And when you hear carols aloud,

Then Christmas seems to be about,

And Santa Claus approach's the crowd.

The Christmas trees will start to shine,

And ging'bread 's going to smell divine;

The children's clothing look that fine,

All families prepare for dine.

We 're waiting for a peaceful feast,

'Course, with a little snow at least;

Look forward to some presents, too -

Just Christmassy-like me and you.

(Poet: Theodor Lüddecke, Gnadau near Schönebeck, Saxony-Anhalt, Germany, 1998)
