EXT. Notell Motell, Outside of New Sandusky, Ohio, Earth, 9941 - Night
(VERNE and the girls pile from a deluxe, supersonic, deco aircab and pour onto the wet, asphalt blacktop parking lot. VERNE pays and tips the driver, who appears as a dirtier clone of WELLS. Few cars litter the lot and the roar of rocketships leaving the nearby Spaceport occasionally sound in the far distance. It isn't raining anymore, but puddles and drips of black-and-glassy water abound. The cool, night air rips gently across the group.)
VERNE
Check-out's at eleven, and your departure is at noon, so we gotta keep this tight; no lollygagging around.
LILY
Is this a joke?
VERNE
Of course not.
IRIS
What, did you book the lobby or something?
VERNE
Nah, four rooms. I'll be in the middle one.
FERN
That doesn't sound like a very good arrangement.
VERNE
Sure it is. If you all trade off, I figger-two-at-a-time should get us all at least-

DAHLIA

IRIS

VERNE

POPPY

(He enters the motel lobby. The girls wait outside.)
