Last week’s biggest announcement was made last Thursday by Gunter, an employee of VRChat who used to host a weekly talk show called “Gunter’s Universe” which is currently on hold.

According to him, “many have asked where they can get their hands on some cool VRChat swag”. In his latest announcement, Gunter said, “As of today, we're excited to announce the launch of our new VRChat Store! This is where you can purchase all kinds of apparel including T-shirts, hoodies, and tank tops, along with accessories like coffee mugs and phone cases.”

Apparently, some users thought VRChat was going to sell in-app goods and services. Last Thursday, Werewolf said, “Here I am reading, ‘VRChat Store got opened,’ and I thought, woah, are they going to sell avatars or something, but all they’ve got is T-shirts with logos.”

There were multiple discussions on this matter, but the reaction VRChat gained from their user base was quite mixed. Even though people still want to support VRChat for all the hard work they’re putting into their platform, they always want to expect something bigger.

“It’s just that I wouldn’t mind paying them, if only I got something more interesting in exchange,” Chipik said in response to Werewolf. “Well, in this case, yeah, they’ll find the buyers anyway.”

Of course, there were others who thought VRChat shouldn’t have started making profit by selling merchandise before coming out of Early Access on Steam. But whether you like it or not, if you keep discussing VRChat Store, even if you just want to talk about how terrible this idea is in your opinion, you’re still promoting their store.

However, if there is one thing VRChat could’ve gone for but decided not to, it’s the use of VR Pill’s avatar in their merchandise, so they’re sticking only to VRChat logos at this point.

Unfortunately, as of now, they’re not selling any “VR-Pill-ows”, and it looks like VRChat never discussed this option with VR Pill, or at least they never received an agreement from him regarding this matter.
