Recently, the long- anticipated event for the originals took place in VRChat. The point of it was to gather some of the oldest VRChat users who supported this platform before it got discovered by famous streamers and YouTubers.

The event was hosted and organized by AAMBIENTT for people who joined VRChat and stayed in here before we hit the number of over 100 players. It started on July 11th at 11:30 PM UTC in the Old Hub and it lasted about two hours. The condition most users agreed on was that they had to wear avatars from before VRChat became a part of mainstream culture for a couple of months.

However, considering that by the time of the event we already lost almost 1% of the player base, according to the average users count on Steam Charts, our platform may already be slightly less popular than we thought it was, especially if you compare our current numbers with over 20,000 concurrent users in January.

We asked a few people from the meetup about their thoughts, and they all said they were glad with the event. MisterJerome replied, “I loved it, it was great, I just wish there was a little more to do.”

During the meetup, they went through a few random worlds, including Courtroom Beta, which was created by Pan Diman who took advantage of the group and used them to test one of his worlds. He said, “I’m still unsure what I should’ve expected, but because of the desync, some of them kept falling through the floor. I found the solution and fixed this issue, even though it shouldn’t have happened at all, but it felt almost like a massacre at some point.”

AAMBIENTT said, “If it means anything I'll also be holding a Halloween party with a contest with a big prize for the oldies as well. Only this time, each attendee can bring one guest.”

According to him, the Halloween contest is “a show off one”, and he also mentioned that it’s supposed to be quite similar to the contest we had last year. As AAMBIENTT explained, “whoever has the spookiest avatar wins.”
