VRChat Lost to Bethesda

On February 8th, Valve published results of the latest Steam Awards, in which VRChat was nominated for the “VR Game of the Year” and recently lost to The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim VR for some reason.

The reaction followed by the results was quite negative in the VR community, as it seems that the majority of people who voted for Skyrim VR never played it in the first place and picked the title because of a familiar title. One of the earliest public reactions was by KuriGames who tweeted, “Are you f***ing serious?! Skyrim won ‘VR Game of the Year?’”

In spite of results, many agreed that the award should’ve gone to Beat Saber or SUPERHOT VR, while those who just bought Skyrim VR after the Steam Awards shared their first impressions, lots of which included mentions of bugs and motion sickness.
