Halloween Event Is Coming Back

It’s been about one year since the announcement of the first Halloween contest in VRChat, and now the team got a new message telling us that it’s coming back.

“Next week we will be officially announcing this year's Halloween event,” VR Pill said on September 15th. “While we can't give official details yet, this is a heads up so you have time to get started on avatars and worlds. This year we are going to have many more smaller prizes, so there will be opportunity for many to win! Stay tuned for a follow-up announcement next week.”

Last year’s prizes for the best world included HTC Vive, three Vive Trackers, and the HTC Vive VR Cover, all of which went to jetdog8808 who won the contest. VRChat also awarded Sven118 with three Vive trackers for the best avatar, but it turned out eventually that the avatar wasn’t fully custom-made from scratch. Needless to say, the only condition VRChat really emphasized was the rule forbidding users from using copyrighted content.

Even though we don’t have enough details at the moment, we can already assume that the Halloween contest may become an annual tradition. Yet, nobody knows if VRChat is going to organize any more seasonal in-app/in-game events in the future.

However, people are still concerned about the Hunt for Mr. Whiskers, another event that started over 5 months ago, on April 1st, and hasn’t been fully finished.

On May 27th, Gunter made a reminder on the Discord server made for the Mr. Whiskers event, “The Hunt for Mr. Whiskers is on pause for a few [weeks/months] while the team builds the second part of the game. Once the content is complete and thoroughly tested we will un-pause the game and continue the quest.”
