Just as we mentioned minor issue with the new Vive movement system, Oculus users met a new problem that didn’t allow them to even launch VRChat due to technical difficulties.

Last Wednesday, VR Pill made a public announcement on the VRChat Discord Server, “We are now aware of an issue with Oculus users logging into VRChat. The devs have been summoned and are investigating now,” shorty after which he added a message with a link to a Reddit post regarding the situation, “The above incident looks like a widespread issue with Oculus.”

In the post VR Pill shared, a user who calls himself secoif said, “Today Oculus decided to update and it never seemed to restart itself, now on manual start I'm getting the above error. Restarting machine and restarting the oculus service doesn't appear to work. The OVRLibrary service doesn't seem to start. Same issue on both my machine and my friend's machine who updated at the same time.”

As far as we know, the problem occured because of an expired certificate. This caused issues for pretty much everyone who tried to use the Oculus service during the issue. Of course, the users’ reaction wasn’t exactly positive, and you probably have already seen the influence on different creations including the “Ready Player None” parody.

However, at the moment, it’s definitely fixed, and Oculus users can finally get back into VR once again, after a day of waiting. On the next day after the issue occured, Tupper said, “Hi all, looks like Oculus finally fixed their issue. Follow the instructions here to repair your Oculus Rift HMD's software.” After that, he left us a link to the official Oculus website, and if for some reason you want to visit it right now, you may use the QR code on your left.

According to a user called TentacleFunTime, “Oculus is giving everyone 15$ credit for their mistake,” so if you’re an Oculus user, make sure you check out their Twitter for the details.
