For the first time in two years, VRChat is ready to release the biggest client update since the 2018 “Trust and Safety” system by introducing a paid subscription model for their services officially called “VRChat Plus.

So far, VRChat’s features that may become available to all subscribers include only two major benefits: 100 avatar slots and custom player icons. Additionally, a few minor benefits are included, such as increased trust level and a supporter badge on the social profile.

While this may be VRChat’s only way of maintaining potential financial independence, many users did not approve the price tag for the subscription, which is US$9,99 a month or US$99,99 for a year of VRChat Plus. As of now, the features mentioned above can be tested for free in the VRChat Open Beta.

If you want to support VRChat, you may want to start saving money for the subscription before Virtual Market 5 — a massive event hosted in VRChat, cluster, and STYLY, where you’ll be able to browse digital goods you might be actually interested in from December 19th, 2020, to January 10th, 2021.
