“My Final Form”:

Upgrading Steam to VRChat Account

by Pan Diman

Slightly updated UI with world tags in VRChat.

Last week, VRChat updated their open beta client and introduced users to several minor improvements, including a world tag system that allows content creators to use up to five tags for each of their worlds.

“Worlds can now have up to five ‘tags’. Tags make it easier for users to find a world. Example tags might include ‘game’, ‘avatars’, or ‘hangout’,” VRChat mentioned in their changelog. “You can search for Tags in the Worlds search interface by searching for a term, then changing the ‘Search In’ button to ‘Tags’ instead of ‘Title’.”

But, of course, one of the most highly requested features some users kept asking for was an ability to connect a VRChat account to their Steam, which should be completely doable with the next update. So, if for some reason you’re still just a Steam user, you can finally create your own VRChat account or use one if it already exists, and merge them together.

Another interesting thing about the new open beta client was the fact that some users saw their UI in different languages. According to Aev, non-English languages showing was a bug, not a feature at the time he posted the message, which was last Thursday. As far as we know, the issue was caused by having different OS language settings on some users’ PCs. Eventually, it got fixed, and now everyone should be able to see their interface in English only, but now beta testers are aware of a possibility that VRChat may translate their UI into different languages.

Among other news, Russian hackers published a piece of code used by crashers to make other users log out of the system following by their clients getting crashed. One of them posted it several times on Canny, but after the original post got removed, they made a second one which gained over 100 upvotes in less than an hour.

Of course, the issue has been looked into, as it appears that the code mentioned in the post was removed by a moderator after it got marked as “In Progress”. The rumor is, it’s going to get fixed with the upcoming patch.
