Privacy Matters:

VRChat Turns Public Worlds Private

Updated status menu.

Due to the upcoming update, which is currently just around the corner, users will be able to restrict access to their public instances if others try to join them by using the “Social” menu.

In the Open Beta client, the “Busy” status has been replaced with two new options: “Ask Me” and “Do Not Disturb,” the latter one of which is going to work exactly the same as the original red status.

With the new update, the orange status will be most likely used by streamers, as well as users requiring extra privacy, since it allows them to appear as “in a private world,” even if it’s actually public. However, using this status while performing erotic activities is not suggested since others may still be able to join public instances by browsing worlds if they know what instance to look for.
