No Language Barriers:

Real-Time Text Translation in VRChat

Credit for one of the most exciting things of the month goes to Phasedragon who used an Android emulator with Google Lens to translate text recorded in VRChat into English in real time.

To explain how he did it, the creator replied, “You just need software that will record your screen and export it as a virtual webcam, then an Android emulator that's capable of receiving that webcam. I tried a bunch of different ones and [SparkoCam with Android Studio] was the first to work reliably.”

However, Phasedragon says that he didn’t do much to achieve this, “I just hooked together a few apps, didn't really do anything myself other than try a bunch to see which ones worked. [SparkoCam] to capture the desktop and export as a virtual webcam, [Android Studio Emulator] to run [Google Lens], and [OVR Toolkit] to display it in VR.”

In just one week, Phasedragon’s tweet gained 1,000 likes and 250 retweets, since the demo shown in it was featured on (actual) news websites.
