We Live In a Society:

VRChat Group Leaders Against Group System

One of the oldest and most upvoted VRChat feature requests of all time called “Player ‘groups’, ‘guilds’, or ‘circles’” just got criticized on Canny by representatives of groups with hundreds of members and active VRChat users.

From a certain point of view, people seem to be comparing what the group system could potentially become to the Trust & Safety system that introduced users of VRChat to ranks, which may still be a controversial topic for a lot of people to this day.

“At the very least, if this is to happen, I don't want it to be a system that would cause us to compete against each other for member loyalty,” said Chdata who claims to be the leader of a group called “Bunny Squad” in VRChat, “I very much feel like displaying a specific community on top would cause unfriendly competition.”

Although people still agree that groups are inevitable for big communities, according to Chdata from the group of over 850 members, “the leader of Hoppou Legion [with over 550 members] also thinks it's a bad idea,” since having to choose one group in a profile may discourage people from participating in multiple communities, and on top of that, they’re afraid of being targeted by other users.

Hopefully, in the end, the vast majority will be satisfied with the outcome, but for now, the feature remains as “Planned” and will probably stay this way until further notice.
