A VRChat user known as deathbyfairydust on Reddit created a post in regards to their recent issue with the DMCA claim that happened last week and got resolved only recently.

Apparently, a group of people sharing a common virtual workplace was accused by an artist on DevianArt because they were making profit off avatar creation and various commissions related to VRChat.

“Someone who modified MMD's on DeviantArt claimed ownership over our avatars because we used the same heads they did, even though the head was made up of stuff they didn't even own and we modified them enough they looked nothing alike,” deathbyfairydust explained. “VRchat was forced to comply because DMCA works that way, but I did a counter claim and we should have everything back soon.”

The accused ones in this case are users producing their project called “Subcom”, and until not too long ago, they had an active VRChat world. It seems that the person in charge of the “Subcom Department” is Little Mouse, also known as LittleMouseVR on Twitch, though the world was also worked on by Diviy, another person who may be one of the co-managers on the Subcom Discord server as well.

Several users already expressed their feelings about the situation, and even though most of them probably didn’t know about the false copyright claim until yesterday, deathbyfairydust assured some of them the world is going to be back “tomorrow”, which is today, and so it finally got public once again

The original poster said in the title, “VRChat is magical. Even though we had a false DMCA [takedown], people still visit the ruins of our avatar world and enjoy building new memories in our creations.”

By “people visiting the ruins” they probably meant users visiting Subcom by using a specific world ID they shared on the Discord server while the world remained private until getting re-approved.
