Building the Future:

VRChat Features

and Requests

While the developers of VRChat are working on new features, either suggested on Canny or developed as their own idea, our regular users keep releasing creations made on their own to add more variety to VRChat.

The first extremely common example of something the community wanted to see as an in-app feature were the group tags you might have noticed by the end of 2017. People got divided into groups, gangs and guilds a while ago, and some of them, like “Cat Mob,” “The Loli Army,” “Kanna G***,” used icons and logos above their avatars.

Eventually, those rotating images were proven to be slightly annoying for some users, but you can still see groups using them from time to time. However, VRChat team is definitely working on the group system. “Common request is favorites / groups for friends, avatars and worlds. We'll get to that eventually,” said Ron on November 21st.

Even though this message is extremely outdated, some of the features, as well as the recently updated “selfie camera,” are currently marked as “In Progress” on the VRChat Canny page. Others, like inventory system, groups, favorites, “Hide Names” togglers, hand colliders, and many more, are just in the “Planned” category for now.

“The majority of requests don’t get too many comments from the developers,” Pan Diman said. “Same thing goes for text messages and in-app currency, some of the most popular ideas discussed in VRChat.”

The potential economic system was one of the main topics discussed by the latest special guest on Gunter’s UniverseGhoster, the head of “VRC Traders,” a community that moves around $2,000 every week. However, the VRChat team doesn’t have a final answer on this, at least for now.

And while we still don’t have texting in the app, Kanata created a world with a fully working keyboard, which is absolutely great for the mutes. If you’re interested, make sure you scan the QR code presented on this page.
