Smiling Faces:

VRChat Adds New Emojis

by Pan Diman

New emojis available in the VRChat beta.

Ever since the “Trust and Safety” system was announced, users started to think of new features and ideas VRChat developers could add to the app in order to outdo their past achievements.

However, it looks like VRChat isn’t planning anything innovative for their next update. On the contrary, the closest features to “groundbreaking” in the current open beta, which has been live for a few days now, are emojis and the slightly updated UI elements allowing users to view details about worlds and their creators.

Since this week there wasn’t anything better to talk about, except a few minor stories and announcement, like the list of fictional names of judges for the Halloween contest, somehow, emojis became the biggest thing about VRChat updates and progress.

And yet, surprisingly enough, the variety and quality of emojis may add a bit of a nice feeling to the VRChat experience, since many of them are animated in unique ways, and the fact we got something new proves that VRChat might keep adding more content in the future, even if it’s just another set of emojis.

Some users said their favorite one is the “Money” emoji, which works as a set of animated particles users are able to activate to make it rain. Of course, it could have lots of applications in the future, especially in role-playing sessions, due to high accessibility.

“I like the cash emoji,” Silent_Potato said in the “Open Beta Discussion” channel of our Discord server. “And the fire one too. Might be useful while trying to market my mixtape.” Then, after having a short discussion regarding future possibilities and potential innovations, Mimi also replied with a comment, “I think [the emojis] are great. I love the interactions they add too.”

If you don’t wish to see another emoji review on the news, unless you’re a Buzzfeed fan, feel free to send your stories to Pan Diman, and maybe we won’t have to publish that “Top 10 Custom Avatar Memes” article next week.
