Last week, an article by Ryan Schultz got released. It’s about his interview with Ghoster, the leader of VRC Traders who was talking about potential economic system of VRChat.

Earlier, we mentioned that the owner of VRC Traders talked about VRChat’s economy, and he discussed such things as origins of VRC Traders, copyright issues, business of creating avatars, as well as other things, but the story wasn’t published until last week.

Last Saturday, Ghoster said, “I recently did an interview with a VR blogger, and here it is if you guys wanna read it.” To read the article about Ghoster and VRChat’s economy you may use the QR code.

Even though economy is something VRChat is most likely going to achieve eventually, whether it’s going to be something made by the community or if it suddenly gets supported by the developers themselves, this question appears to have strong answers on boths sides.

“I wouldn’t add renting because ideally avatars would be cheap enough to just buy outright instead,” General Megazord said. “But buying could work. Make an in-game economy so people can tip me for stripping.”

“Adding a currency system globally would not solve any issue,” G1fan replied in discussion on adding virtual currency to VRChat. “Nor would it add any useful feature to the current direction of the game. However, a currency system makes perfect sense in the context of certain worlds and their respective situations.”

Zarniwoop also made a comment on this issue, “Having a separate wallet for actual currencies you can cash out would be great to have as well, so people could leave tipping jars in their worlds or even sell avatars ingame.”

In conclusion, we can say that currency would open new possibilities to VRChat and its community, but for now it may be hard to imagine in-app microtransactions beyond economic system for roleplayers.
