Last year was quite special for VRChat and the community, but, fortunately or not, it probably wouldn’t have been like this without the memes we encountered throughout the year.

Now that VRChat has a more or less strong player base, we can finally present to you the official community-made "VRChat Meme Awards.” The nominees are some of the most popular memes, according to the ratio of people familiar with the memes to the number of concurrent users during the time each meme was relevant to the community.

Among the categories we have “Meme of the Year,” “Creation of the Gods,” “Mr. / Mrs. VRChat 2017,”

“Crowd Favorite,” “Creativity of the Year,” “Only 90’s Kids Remember,” And, of course, “The Most Annoying,” although it seems we already know which one’s going to win in at least one of these.

As you can see, many memes mentioned above are probably dead by now, but they definitely represent VRChat and what happened to it in 2017. However, of course, times are changing, and we’re getting new ideas for memes everyday. For example, instead of the Ugandan Knuckles there are multiple users acting like seagulls from “Finding Nemo.”

Recently, Cat said, “Warning! There's now birds that take over VRChat and say "mine mine mine" like on ‘Finding Nemo.’” A few people responded to him, and akalink stated that he has seen them, “One was nice, the other was not,” after which bit 01 replied, ”I saw a dozen of them surrounding a Knuckles going "Dead meme?" and the Knuckles didn't know what to do.” It almost seems like we might be approaching yet another meme revolution in VRChat any time soon.
