“Intros” Channel Becomes Unoriginal

Many of your should know that the official VRChat Discord server has many channels, including “Intros,” a place where people usually present themselves to the VRChat community.

However, these days, instead of using original messages in order to introduce themselves, users often use simple templates to highlight only basic information about themselves, like name, age, gender, interests, nationality, etc., making the whole channel look pretty much the same every day without giving a fresh appeal to the introductions people use in it.

And yet, last Friday, smug loli but without the smug made their comment on the current state of the channel, “Week 3 of the ‘#intros’ meme template, it is finally starting to go away 1 character at a time as ‘►’ is no longer being used. Recovery is possible.”

But the thing is, it’s not all about the Discord channel. As many of you might have noticed, VRChat community stopped presenting new cultural ideas, including fresh memes, a long time ago, which definitely seems to have been caused by the overused “Ugandan” crisis that happened two and a half months ago.

As Admiral Awesome stated in the “VRChat General” Discord channel, “the point of memes is to be unoriginal,” but before that, Lymlae said, “Memes are fine, it’s the unoriginal storm of copycats that follows.” The opinions may vary depending on many things, and Kirex17 expressed his own by saying, “The only people that still think the Knuckles meme is funny is Russian 12-year-olds.”

We’ve been getting countless suggestions to ban outdated memes since a long time ago, but the rules remain pretty much the same for the most part, and VRChat admins can’t ban any specific memes as long as they don’t break any rules mentioned in the VRChat EULA.

However, we advise you not to judge users by their preferences, whether they like Ugandan Knuckles, disturbing Doki Doki avatars, or Filthy Frank memes, don’t be mean to them as long as you can block others.

This is actually fine. Screenshot by Pan Diman.
