Voices has a longstanding tradition of featuring Valentine’s-themed pieces in its February issue, the most notable of which being crush descriptions, perhaps the publication’s most-anticipated feature of the year. While love is still in the air, the Voices Music Division introduced the second submission opportunity of the season, with a simple prompt: “What is your favorite love song?”

Masterman’s student body responded in droves, and the result is by far the longest Voices playlist yet, and the one I’m most excited about, since it’s curated by the people of Masterman! That’s right! I’m not recommending music this month (save for the few songs I added to the playlist), because you did, and it’s reflected in the variety of submissions. The February playlist has everything from Frank Sinatra and classic Motown recordings (a record label which I’d argue has the best collections of love songs of all time) to Taylor Swift and Bladee. One interesting statistic from the playlist: the artist with the most submissions from different people was far and away Hozier. So, when it comes to love songs, I guess Masterman is a Hozier school. Just thought I’d share that fun tidbit!

In all seriousness, this playlist features songs that are likely special to so many here at our school, and there isn’t a single bad tune among them. If you’ve got the time, hit shuffle and find something old, or something new, and think about the people or things you always think about when listening to love songs.
