Every fall, the Halloween dance is a beloved tradition that has brought students together to show off their best costumes, dance the night away, and enjoy the spooky spirit of the season. In the past, it has been held in the school's gymnasium or on the school's roof, but this year the celebration is being taken to an entirely new level.
On Friday November 1st, 2024, at 7:00 PM sharp, the Halloween dance will be held at none other than the Academy of Natural Sciences (19th Street and the Parkway), a venue that will turn this event into a one of a kind experience. Students will enjoy dancing the night away alongside dinosaur skeletons, surrounded by museum exhibits that can only add to the Halloween ambiance. There will be a senior band serenading throughout the night with enjoyable music and complimentary drinks will be provided to keep everyone refreshed. While the band is on break, the Halloween Dance playlist will be exhibiting a mix of crowd-favorites and upbeat tunes to keep the energy high.
Although the location change is one of the most exciting aspects of this year’s dance, it's certainly not the only thing to look forward to. Masterman’s beloved Student Government Association (SGA) has taken the initiative to manage this event and is proud to host the annual costume contest. They hope to see not just spooky outfits but costumes that push the boundaries of creativity and individuality. This year the costume contest categories will go as followed: Most Creative, Funniest, Best Senior Costume, Best Group Costume. Whether you’re planning a solo costume or coordinating with friends for a group theme, this is your chance to make a statement. SGA can’t wait to see what students come up with this year. The top group costume will receive a $20 Old Nelson gift card while individual winners will receive a $10 Old Nelson gift card. With such a stellar location, live music, a costume contest, and prizes, this year’s Halloween dance promises to be the best one yet. Whether you’re a freshman attending your first Halloween dance or a senior looking to make the most of your final year, this is an event you don't want to miss. Be sure to arrive on time, in your costume, and ready to have a spooktacular time!
