Throughout high school, you have taken various Penn Young Scholars courses, giving you a glimpse into the next 4 years. What are you most excited about during your time at UPenn?
I’m excited to meet new people. I know a lot of people like to go to new places and experience new things, and I do too. But I’m too intertwined with the city of Philadelphia. I’m happy that I get to meet new people while having a base I’m so ingrained in. Also, I regret every single Young Scholars class.
Favorite memory on the ultimate frisbee team?
It was a rainy day practice that happened just a few weeks ago. We were soaked to the bone. It was a real representation of camaraderie and the ability to stick through an unexpected situation. But, my time with the frisbee team can’t be defined by a single memory, it's honestly a lot more than that. Getting food after practice/tournaments is also up there, though.
You have been a strong captain of the Masterman Chess team. How did you get into playing chess and do you have any words of wisdom you want to leave the team with?
It started with my dad. He put me on and I was playing tournaments ever since I was about 8 years old. I peaked in 6th or 7th grade when I got 4th place at K-8 Pennsylvania States. My advice for the team next year would be to put the work in and lead by example. So don’t do what I did mostly.
What has been your favorite memory at Masterman and what will you miss most?
Just getting food with gang.
You have been a dedicated writer and section editor for Voices. What has been your favorite article to write?
I liked my satire from last year (“Masterman’s Record-Breaking Leadership”)

Imparting some sort of story or narrative is usually going to lead to a fun article, and I think I’m more passionate about that style. I also feel the need to shout out my main writing partner, Rainer. It's always a trip for two steadfast minds to collide on an article, but I felt we always produced good work that was fun to write.
Favorite TV show?
Oh, that’s tough. I love Better Call Saul, I just love it. And obviously Curb Your Enthusiasm. Every day, I wake up and wish I had Larry David’s brain. I try to live like him every single day. Honestly, I even steal some of his outfits, which is why I get so much credit for my fashion; it's all because of him.
Favorite Curb episode?
There are too many. I’m going “Krazee-Eyez Killa.” It gives Shakespeare vibes with the contortions of love and betrayal, and a sort of death of a player. You can learn a lot from Larry's experience in this episode.
Favorite song?
Unfortunately, I have to give a Kanye trifecta: Ghost Town, Devil in a New Dress, and Bound 2.
