Masterman High School Swim Team Triumphs Over Rivals in Intense Meet

Lucas Koo 10-2 & Ciaran Yudiono (10-4)

At the beginning of their season, the Masterman swim team geared up for another exciting year of competition. Led by their seasoned coach, Philip Kohler (also known as Captain Rocket), the team worked hard in the pool to improve their technique and stamina.

The team is made up of a diverse group of student-athletes, ranging from experienced swimmers to newcomers. Among them are standout swimmers such as Jason Zhang (10-4). Among the newcomers are swimmers Owen Cheung, Leonard Vekker, Sammy Abusab, Isabella Trieu, who went to the District Championships. The team faced tough competition from rival schools, but with their strong work ethic and team spirit, the swimmers were determined to make a splash and come out on top.

The Masterman swim team recently triumphed over their rivals from Central High School. Although both teams gave it their all during the intense competition, Masterman ultimately came out on top. Jason Zhang states, “Girls were first overall on Tuesday and Boys were first on Thursday! The boys almost lost to Central, but some of their swimmers were on probation for failing classes! I am very excited, this might be the first year where boys and girls both win. I am very proud of everyone.”

The accomplishments of the Masterman swim team serve as a testament to the value of perseverance, commitment, and cooperation. It demonstrates that anything is feasible with the appropriate instruction, guidance, and assistance. The team's triumph over Central High School is an achievement for the institution, and it will undoubtedly motivate future generations of Masterman swimmers.
