Senior Spotlight:
Josiah Kane-Howell
Interviewed by Katie Huynh (12-2)
If you could live anywhere in the world where would it be?
A countryside in Japan or France where it’s really nice and I’ll be able to grow vegetables. I’m not sure of the exact location but definitely a countryside of some sort. Probably in a big house with old architecture on the outside but lots of technology and hidden spaces on the inside.
Do you consider yourself a generally lucky person? Name a time when you have felt the most lucky.
I do not consider myself a generally lucky person now, but when I was younger I would always find money on the ground. I remember finding sixty dollars on the ground one time just laying there, so I gave half of it to my church so that was super fun! However, I have had a lot of rough times in my life in terms of my living situation and things like that, but I try to look on the positive side.
What is one memory/tradition/joke that you will treasure and miss the most after graduation?
Amal Mathew.
Hobbies outside of school?
I think everyone knows this by now, but I really really like cooking -- almost too much. I don’t really remember exactly how I discovered it even though I wrote my college essay about it. I guess I just remember my brother cooking scrambled eggs because my mom let him, but she wouldn’t let me do it so I got jealous and started doing it and eventually I became better at cooking than him.
Favorite midnight snack?
I don’t eat snacks, but probably something filled with carbs. Just something I would regret eating at 6AM in the morning when I’m looking at myself in the mirror.
Where do you hope to be 10 years from now?
Either running a food truck or still in school. It just depends which way life throws me, but probably still in school because you need money to make a living for my family and I want to get my doctorate for engineering.
Favorite cheesy joke?
What does a donkey do when its head hurts? It takes an ass-pirin.
