Original Day Family Cookbook
Ingredients:
12 cups cabbage, finely shredded
1 cup water
3 apples, cut into very thin slices
½ cup brown sugar
2 tablespoon butter
2 teaspoon grated onion
½ teaspoon salt - dash of pepper
½ cup mild vinegar (dilute with water)
½ cup gingersnap pieces
Directions:
Pour boiling water over cabbage in colander. Cook together 5 min. with water, apples, brown sugar, butter, onion, salt, and pepper. Mix in mild vinegar (dilute with water) and gingersnap pieces. Stir over heat until gingersnaps are dissolved and mixture is hot. Makes 8 servings.
