Original Day Family Cookbook
Ingredients:
3 large onions, peeled and thinly sliced (3 cups)
2 tablespoon butter
1 10-inch pie shell, partially baked (10 min)
1 teaspoon caraway seeds in crust (optional)
1 cup milk, divided
1 cup cottage cheese
1 cup dairy sour cream
1 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon seasoned pepper
3 eggs, beaten
1 tablespoon flour
1/3 cup grated Cheddar cheese
Cooked bacon or ham (optional)
½ teaspoon curry powder (optional)
Directions:
Simmer onions until soft in hot butter. Turn into baked pie shell. Combine 3/4 cup milk, cottage cheese, sour cream, salt, pepper and eggs; mix well. Blend remaining ¼ cup milk with flour; stir into sour cream mixture. Mix well. Pour over onions in pie shell. Sprinkle with grated cheese. Bake at 325o for 30-35 min. Pie should be firm in center.
