Lake House Cole Slaw

Russ, Florence and Ralph spent a long weekend at Lake House in Eustis bird hunting the October before Howard (Gabriel) was born.

Ingredients:

    • 1 cabbage, about the size of a grapefruit, shredded

    • 1 medium sized onion, minced fine

    • 1 heaping tablespoon sugar

    • ½ teaspoon prepared mustard

    • ½ teaspoon salt - dash pepper

    • 2 tablespoon salad oil

    • 1 tablespoon vinegar

    • celery seeds (optional)

    • ¼ cup milk

    • 2 heaping tablespoon mayonnaise

Directions:

Toss cabbage and onion.

Dressing: Mix sugar, mustard, salt, pepper, salad oil, vinegar, and celery seeds. Add milk and mayonnaise. Beat mixture with beater, until similar to heavy cream. If too thick, add a bit more milk; if too thin, add more mayonnaise. This can be kept in a jar in refrigerator for an indefinite time.
