Original Day Family Cookbook
Ingredients:
½ cup molasses
½ cup oil
2 eggs, well beaten
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/8 teaspoon salt
2 cups whole wheat flour
½ cup raisins
¼ cup chopped dates
¼ cup chopped figs
½ cup chopped nuts
Directions:
Preheat oven to 375o. Blend molasses with oil. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Stir in remaining ingredients and mix well. Batter should be stiff yet soft enough to drop by teaspoonfuls on oiled baking sheet. If batter is too thick, add a small quantity of unsweetened fruit juice. If too thin, add a little more flour. Place on baking sheets. Flatten the teaspoons of dough with the bottom of a drinking glass dipped in water. Bake 12-15 mins. or until done.
