Original Day Family Cookbook
Ingredients / DIrections:
2 cups flour, sifted and measured
Sift with:
l teaspoon salt
4 teaspoon baking powder
½ teaspoon baking soda
Cut in 5 tablespoon shortening, using pastry blender.
Add 3/4 cup buttermilk (approx.) to make a soft dough, stirring quickly.
Turn onto floured board, knead for one minute.
Roll ½ inch thick.
Use floured cutter to cut biscuits.
Place on ungreased baking sheet.
Let pan of biscuits stand 30 min. at room temperature.
Bake at 450o for about l5 min.
Biscuits may be mixed in morning, placed on baking sheet, covered and placed in refrigerator to be baked at night. Let come to room temperature before baking.
