Original Day Family cookbook
Ingredients:
2 cup grape juice
½ cup sugar
1/3 cup quick-cooking tapioca
½ teaspoon salt
1 cup Burgundy wine
Directions:
Mix grape juice, sugar, tapioca, and salt. Let stand 5 min. Bring to a boil over medium heat,. stirring often, appox. 5 mins. Add wine; heat to boiling. Reduce heat to medium low; continue cooking 5 more min, stirring frequently. Spoon into 6 8-ounce wine glasses. Top with Custard Sauce.
Custard Sauce:
1-3/4 cup half-and-half
1 large egg yolk
3 tablespoon sugar
1 tablespooncorn starch
Dash salt
Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, til mixture just coats back of spoon, about 10 min. Remove from heat; stir in ½ teaspoon vanilla extract. Cover surface with waxed paper. Refrigerate til well chilled.
