Notes: 1 cup milk/water wasn't enough for half recipe, so add the full amount (potatoes should be covered). This takes a long time to bake so either try thinner than thin or maybe pre-bake/microwave or start with higher temp.
8 servings
3 pounds potatoes, thin or lower on mandolin
½ onion, thinly sliced
(68 g) 9 tablespoons all-purpose flour
4 tablespoons butter, diced and divided
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp turmeric
ground black pepper to taste
garlic/onion/mustard powder
paprika, parsley
1/2 cup Frontier Nutritional Yeast Mini Flakes
1.5 cups Silk Extra Creamy Oatmilk
1.5 cup water
Slice potatoes and dice onions
Melt/soften butter
Combine spices
Warm milk and flour in microwave on 50%
Stir in spices and melted butter
Layer potatoes/onions and pour liquid mixture over.
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
Spread about 1/3 of the potato slices into the bottom of the prepared baking dish. Top with about 1/3 of the onion slices. Sprinkle 3 tablespoons flour over the potato and onion. Arrange 2 tablespoons butter atop the flour. Season the entire layer with salt and pepper. Repeat layering twice more.
Heat milk in a saucepan until warm. Pour enough warm milk over the mixture in the baking dish so the top of the liquid is level with the final layer of potatoes.
Bake in the preheated oven until potatoes are tender, 45 to 60 minutes. Serve hot and enjoy!
