Sloppy Joes

1 teaspoon olive oil

1 cup chopped onion

1/2 med green or red bell pepper

2 teaspoons bottled minced garlic

1 can - 15 oz - tomato sauce

1 can - 6 oz - tomato paste

1/4 cup water

1 tablespoon light or dark brown sugar, firmly packed

2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce

2 teaspoons red wine or cider vinegar

1 package - 12 oz - crumbles

1/4 cup ketchup

1 teaspoon hot sauce

  1. Heat oil in a deep 12 inch non-stick skillet over medium heat.
  2. Cook onion & pepper about 2 minutes to soften onion, stirring occasionally.
  3. Add remaining ingredients & stir until all of the tomato paste is incorporated.
  4. Lower heat to simmer & continue to cook for about 5 minutes.
