This year's freshman volleyball team struggled quite a bit this season with a record of  2-16. Although this year's season did not go the way they expected, players said that they are looking forward to a whole new season so that they can improve.

Volleyball is one of the many sports at NHS that offers a freshman team. The freshman volleyball team allows students who have never played volleyball before a chance to try it and still get to play on a competitive team. Also, it acts as an introduction year so that the next year they can play JV or varsity.

For some students, freshman volleyball was a sport they wanted to play because it looked enticing.

“ I wanted to play because of the teamwork and I saw it a lot on Tiktok,” said freshman Maisie Griffin.

“I wanted to try something new and it looked like a cool sport,” said freshman Samantha Sullivan.

Although the team's record was not the best this season, Griffin and Sullivan like to keep it positive.

“When it comes to sports I like to stay positive. Losing that many times is really hard and makes it feel like there is no way to win,” freshman Samantha Sullivan said.

“We definitely have room to improve. It's a bit disappointing [that] we lost so much. Near the beginning of the season, after a few losses I was worried about if we would get to win a game,” Maisie Griffin explained.
