Red (Taylor's Version)

9/10

On Friday, November 12th Taylor Swift dropped her new version of her 2012 album "Red (Taylor's Version)" Due to managing issues, Swift decided to remake a few of her old albums, along with a few new songs, so that her manager who mistreated her isn't able to make money from fans listening to her songs.

The new album contains 30 songs, 16 of which are old, re-recorded songs while the others are songs that Swift wrote during the time period of the album but didn’t make it to the album itself.

I loved the album.

The mixture of “new” and old songs is perfect and makes people excited for the album and the added songs.

When "Red (Taylor’s Version)" was released I was very excited. I grew up listening to these songs and Taylor Swift in general so it’s nice to hear that she’s taking back her songs from her manager.

Along with the new songs was also a 10-minute version of Swift’s “All Too Well” and it wasn’t just the song. Swift also wrote and directed a short film to her 10-minute version of “All Too Well” starring well-known actors, Sadie Sink, and Dylan O’Brien.

The short film had to be my favorite part of the album coming out. It gave an image of her relationship with Jake Gyllenhaal and was very well done. I found the fighting scene very powerful and the acting was absolutely amazing.

The old, iconic songs were also very nice to hear. Songs like “I Knew You Were Trouble”, “22”, “We Are Never Getting Back Together”, and “Everything had Changed” are songs I used to listen to on the radio. I’ve always loved these songs but my favorite from the old songs has to be “Everything Has Changed”. I remember watching the music video and absolutely loving the song when it first came out.

I also really enjoy Ed Sheeran’s songs which is why I think I liked the song the most. Their voices mix very well with each other and the song was my favorite from the album even when it first came out.

Overall, I loved the album and for me, it was kind of a blast from the past. Swift is an amazing singer and I'm very excited to see what she has in store next.
