Amanda Baptiste is a new biology teacher here at Norwood High School
Amanda Baptiste went to Taunton High School and studied Exercise Physiology at UMass Lowell. Aside from studying at UMass Lowell, she was a distance runner for indoor and outdoor track.
She was a junior in college during the peak of the Covid 19 pandemic and feels like her experience can relate to high schoolers.
“It greatly affected me. I wasn't able to shadow or go to schools like any normal person would do, I had to finish my master's with online classes. It helped me in some ways because I can relate to my students on a personal level but again it had many disadvantages.” Baptiste said.
Although this is her first year teaching, Baptiste has already grown so many strong bonds with students. She is a teacher students can go to with anything.
Already early in this year, Baptiste has earned a reputation as a helpful teacher.
"She is so helpful in all areas, like helping me through work making sure I know how to study but also just being there for me when I need some support,” said Sophomore Thomas Stuart.
As a brand new teacher at Norwood High, she enjoys her teaching environment and feels very supported.
“It's a great environment. I feel very supported by the administration and my staff and the student body here makes it easy to teach for my first year,” said Baptiste.
