Welcome to the first edition of the Lookbook! In this column, I will try my best to advise as many girls as possible to look like their perfect, most confident self. Topics like clothing, makeup, trends, and hair will be discussed. This edition, however, happens to be centered around hair trends.

Although an outfit may be commonly viewed as simply the clothing put into it, there are numerous other factors that play a big part in making a look notable. One of these slightly-overlooked factors is what you do with your hair, which is arguably the most important and easy way to change or improve your style.

Hair is extremely versatile. It can be styled, put up, accessorized, cut, texturized, colored, you name it. However, based on how someone would like to be seen and what they feel confident with, specific styles are perfect for different people.

One option, if you are looking to change things up big-time, would be to cut your hair. Obviously, a suggestion as long-term as this is not essential to creating nice outfits, but if you are looking to change your appearance, this would be a perfect option. Short hair happens to be extremely in right now, so it’s a good time to try it if you are considering it.

Another long-term change to your hair that you can consider is to dye it; however, this change is a tough one to generalize as different colors complement different faces and complexions. In terms of generalization, dark hair is a big trend right now which is also a safer option because you would not have to bleach your hair. Honestly, the color of your hair greatly depends on the look you’re going for, and what you think best fits your personality.

Now that we have the scarily permanent options out of the way, you may be happy to know that you definitely do not have to do either of those to change up your look. A wonderful way to change up your hairstyle is to accessorize. Cheap garments like hair clips, scrunchies, and headbands are extremely in style right now and for good reason. They go with everything and are very easy to use. Scrunchies are a perfect way to spice up a ponytail, braid, or bun. Likewise, hair clips are a good way to add something to your hair when it’s down.

Finally, if you want to change up the texture of your hair to complete an outfit, a good rule of thumb is that curly hair goes well with solid shirts, and straight hair goes well with patterned shirts. However, this rule is not at all strict and does not necessarily need to be followed.

These are only a few options for incorporating your hair into your outfit, and there are many more that you can try. However, these are a good way to get started!
