Connor's Corona Chronicles

March 16, 2020

During this difficult time of social distancing and quarantine due to the coronavirus, it is valid that people of all ages would be bored while in their homes. In my household, my family and I have decided to stay inside and only leave for emergency errands. We find social distancing very important to stop the spread.

Although it isn't necessarily affecting us as young, healthy people, we still should make efforts to protect people who are elderly, and people who are prone to getting sick such as people with asthma and other breathing problems. However, taking these precautions come with consequences, particularly boredom.

My family and I have been doing many things to be as occupied as we can during these weird few weeks. On the first day of quarantine, we took rides in our car with the windows down for a change of scenery and fresh air. We also set up a burrito bar in our kitchen which was kind of like fast food from home since we cannot go out. Another thing that my family and I did was play board games such as Jenga. And just as many other people are doing we have been watching shows on Netflix, away from each other as needed since being with your family for too long gets old fast.

On the second day of quarantine, I got fresh air by sitting outside on my porch as well as opening a few windows in my room. Another thing that helped was Face-timing friends to catch up since it will be a long time since we are able to see each other.

During this corona-cation it's a great idea to find some new hobbies. For instance, I have been making string bracelets. If you cannot do that, you can also paint, draw or workout and even clean or reorganize your room.

With a little understanding and imagination, we can all make the best of this time.

Sending positivity and hoping you and your families stay healthy during these weird few weeks,

Olivia
