5 summer jobs perfect for teens

Looking for something to keep you busy or earn some extra cash? A job is a perfect thing for you. Here are five summer jobs perfect for teens.

#1- Babysitting is a great job for anyone who loves kids but can’t work at a daycare yet. Whether it’s for a family friend or relative, babysitting is a great way to earn a lot of money in a few short hours. Freshman Lily Swederskas said, “It is a great way for teenagers who are starting to work or starting to want to get money… I think it’s a great segue to working for teenagers that want to start.” 

#2- Being a swim instructor is another job for someone who loves both kids and the water. Usually, the hours are short and the pay is pretty good. “It’s fun and easy and the managers are really nice,” said freshman Jouseth Paredes. A swim instructor is one of the best ways for someone new to working to earn high pay without too much stress. 

#3- Tutoring is a simple job that requires a few hours and lets you make lots of peer connections. Tessa Lahaise, a freshman at NHS who has been tutored herself remarked, “During the second term tutoring helped my math grade go up.” Not only could being a tutor make you money, but many students use tutoring as a way to get service hours and it also looks great on future applications. 

#4- Though it’s not common, working within children’s sports games can be very rewarding both financially and socially. Freshman Charlotte Cain referees for kids’ soccer games and said, “I like how the kids can be really nice.” If you love children but babysitting isn’t your thing, perhaps this is the perfect job for you. 

#5- Lifeguarding is a responsible yet easy job that can have very high pay as well as a fun work environment. “It’s a fun place to be and there are a lot of funny things to see when you’re at the pool,” said freshman Joey Brady. Though it does require a certain amount of skill, once you’re lifeguard certified a very wide range of opportunities open up where you can make some serious cash.
