NHS Takes on Podcasting With The Stampede

By Mackenzie Citrone, Staff Writer

The Stampede podcast is an individual production project created by a group of students in the Advanced TV/Media class. The students learned new skills regarding how to make podcasts as well as using their previous skills in production.

There are currently five members involved in the production project: Nick Spadorcia, Lars Boothroyd, Jake Mannering, Jared Shea, and Allie McDonough.

The podcast was created two years ago by alumni Joe Spadorcia and Mike O’Curley, they have since graduated which left a fresh batch of podcast members.

“Coming into this year we were kinda new and had to figure out what to do and how to do it. It actually took us about a term and a half to figure out what we were doing” said Jared Shea.

“We’re in the developmental stage,” said Mr. Brunt, TV/Media teacher.

On The Stampede, they talk about the various NHS sports teams. Topics such as records, predictions for the next season, and highlights from the games are covered in the episodes.

“We want to shed more light on sports at Norwood high as they have been improving over the past few years. Also to give players who might not see the spotlight often a chance to be recognized for their efforts,” said senior Lars Boothroyd.

There have been challenges with creating The Stampede, mainly with getting started. Now, the team has everything down and is trying to get better with their scripting abilities.

Junior Jared Shea said, “Last year we kind of experimented doing other podcasts, more like a talk show rather than just sports-oriented. We never actually released those though; we don’t know what we will do in the future.”

In the coming years, the members would like to produce more episodes of the podcast and possibly go back to the idea of different themes.
