At ‘The School on the Hill,’ spirit week is a pretty big deal. On October 24, each class of Norwood High School dressed up in their assigned school colors to represent their grade during the annual fall pep rally. The freshman class was assigned the difficult color of yellow, sophomores, white, juniors, blue and our beloved seniors, black.

The pep rally began with each grade screaming to compete for the loudest class. Just like every other year the senior class screamed the loudest and won. Next, the varsity cheerleaders performed their halftime dance and pyramid to get the crowd hyped up. After the cheerleaders got the crowd excited, it was time for the homecoming court to be announced.

The homecoming court is nominated by staff. Students must be a senior, have a positive attitude in the classroom and participate in other student activities that promote Norwood pride. The court is announced at the pep rally where students cheer on their fellow classmates for the accomplishments they made.

This year’s homecoming court consisted of King, Jaden Ryan, Queen, Erinn Wagner and Taylor Lynch, Patrice FanFan, Justin Baez, Megan Sople, Jake Mannering, Noirret Francis, Stephen Alinger, Isabella Inzodda, Anthony Venuto and Allie Mcdonough.

After the homecoming court was announced classes competed in a new game called “Scavenger Hunt.” Each class was challenged with tasks like, “Find three students with the same first name,” and “Find someone with a watch that’s not a smartwatch.” Many students seemed to enjoy the competition and the winning of fun prizes like bead necklaces and candy.

When this game was over, student teams got together on the football field and participated in a relay race. Each team had to go to the basket across the field, put on a clothing item that was in the basket, run to their teammate and put the clothing item onto them. In the end, the last person running to the basket will have every clothing and accessory item in the basket on themselves. The staff also competed in this game, making it a great opportunity for student-staff bonding. Despite a hard effort from the teachers, the seniors won.
