Norwood High Varsity Softball team slaughters Ashland on Senior Night

On May 24, The Norwood Mustangs made a huge comeback winning against the Ashland team by 22-10 on Senior Night 


During the first inning, Norwood took the field and led up three runs. Amazing plays from Sophomore Lizzy Helmar and Junior Nat Gale really saved them from getting the three outs. Norwood was then batting and started off a little rocky but got one run to finish the inning 


In the second inning, they took the field once again with a determination to block them and did. Unfortunately, both teams were unsuccessful to make it home so by the bottom of the second the score was still 3-1.


In the third inning, the Mustangs, unfortunately, led up another five runs. The Mustangs took the dugout and were all determined to hit the ball, they started from the top of the batting order all the way to the bottom. Going around twice in the batting lineup. They scored 14 runs in that inning.  Senior Captain Athena Alexupolus with a three-run RBI. The final score of the inning was 15-8. 


Everyone engaged in the game went back on the field. No runs were scored by Ashland. Sophomore Pauline Cordani pitched only strikes that inning and struck out two of the Ashland players. Captain Alexopoulos made the last out at the second base with a hard-hit ball. Now the bottom of the fourth score was the same. The Mustangs got another three runs in. By the end of the inning, the score was 18-8 with Norwood having a 10-run lead


In the fifth inning, the Ashland clockers needed three runs to make sure they could stay in the game but unfortunately against the Mustang's defense, they could not succeed. The Mustangs then went up to bat and got four runs, slaughter ruling the Clockers.
