Every month, the school-wide book club meets during lunch to discuss their new book of the month.

The Lunch Book Club is run by NHS librarians, Mrs. Bradley and Ms. Mannering, who have each been in charge of the club since they began working at Norwood High.

Some books they’ve discussed this year include “Scythe” by Neal Shusterman, “We Were Liars” by E. Lockhart, and other popular YA novels.

The club tries to include a wide variety of books of all genres that are interesting for students to read.

“We try to do some of the like, popular young adult books. But then also we try and do different genres or different styles. Sometimes it coordinates with the month, like we’ve done poetry… in April, cause that’s poetry month. You know really basic things, suspense or mystery during Halloween,” said Mrs. Bradley.

By meeting during lunch, the club is able to increase the number of students able to attend and participate.

Ms. Mannering, who helps run the club, said, “Truthfully when I came aboard it was already called Lunch Book Club and we’ve always met during lunch. I know kids have other activities after school so it gave people a chance to meet”.

The Library Lunch Book Club also provides students with opportunities to meet new people that share their ideas or interests.

“I got to meet a lot of new people who share my opinion or have a contradiction to it and I just really like that,” freshman Lily Swederskas said

The Library Lunch Book Club has provided a welcoming environment to many students, where they can share their love of reading with other people and make new friends while doing it.

“I was thinking about it because I really like to read, it’s probably my favorite hobby of mine… It was basically to just get to know more people,” said Swederskas.
