The annual NHS Thanksgiving break pep rally was held on Wednesday, November 23- a sunny day, not too cold, with students filled with excitement for the coming thanksgiving break and the Turkey Day relay race.

The race included three legs. Leg one was Pass the Potato, where students passed a potato between five players on their team using only a spoon.

Leg two was Turkey Toss,  this leg consisted of another five players tossing a “ Turkey” to their teammates who will then shoot the “Turkey” into a bucket.

Then for the last leg, an additional ten players from each team participated in the Green Bean Casse-Roll. This event allowed ten players, the ten were taxed with passing a hula hoop from one person to the next in a chain without breaking the link.

Each grade was given a color to represent their team. Freshmen were yellow, sophomores were white, Juniors were blue, and seniors were black. All teams fought hard, and all grades cheered for their team.

But in the end, the freshmen came out on top, and although a victory, it was certainly short-lived as they began passing out T-shirts to the wrong section in celebration. The sophomores certainly enjoyed their new shirts.

Speaking of sophomores, Olivia Loud made her excitement known.

“It’s very exciting, Go Norwood!” she said.

Sophomore Brendan Fitzsimmons said, “ I’m feeling pretty good about this; seems better than last year already.”

Sophomore varsity cheerleader, Kaylin Carreiro said “ I’m thankful to be here and I think this is a great way to start thanksgiving break.”
