If you are planning to watch the new "Wonka" movie, don’t waste your time. This is the worst “Wonka” movie ever made.

“Wonka” came out on December 15, 2023 in theaters, and is currently streaming on HBO Max. The movie is 1 hour and 56 minutes long.

It stars Timothée Chalamet as Willy Wonka and is about Willy Wonka creating his chocolate and the struggles he faces trying to sell it. The movie also stars Clash Lane as Noodle, Hugh Grant as the Oompa Loompa, Keegan-Michael Key as the Chief of Police, and Paterson Joseph as Slugworth.

Village Roadshow Picture and Heyday Films were the production company of this movie.  It is rated 7.1 on IMDb, 82% on Rotten Tomatoes, and 66% on Metacritic.

The movie's scenery was awful because it was very confusing. It was set in 1940’s London but had modern-day elevators and a high-tech vault.

“Wonka” had extra story details that weren’t needed like being stuck in a hotel or helping a girl find her mother. There was a girl who was abandoned by her mom and dad which wasn’t needed. Also, the other chocolate seller was her uncle which was really confusing. These extra scenes weren’t needed and made the movie boring. There wasn’t anything that stood out to me at all.

Personally, I think Timothée Chalamet did a good job playing Willy Wonka. Chalamet really showed the joyous spirit that Willy Wonka has. Shockingly, I could feel the joy through the screen!

“Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” in 2005, with Johnny Depp as Willy Wonka was such a better movie than any other Willy Wonka movie. The other "Wonka” didn’t have a futuristic aspect like an invisible, flying elevator.

Also in the 2005 “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” each candy was unique in their own way. The futuristic aspect stood out to me in that movie but “Wonka” didn’t have the futuristic look.

There were so many wasteful scenes that could have been replaced with better ones. For example, all the times in “Wonka” where Timothee Chalamet snuck through the sewage, gave his chocolate out, and went back into the hotel was very repetitive.

There could have been more scenes about how he got all the ingredients for the chocolate, him actually working in his chocolate factory, and more scenes about where Loompaland, the Oompa Loompas habitat.

I didn’t like how it was a musical and how it was set in old London. This movie was hyped up but disappointed me. Trust me, don’t watch this movie.
