Are we still trick or treating?

Halloween is rapidly approaching, and some teenagers have stopped trick or treating and instead traded it to attend parties. Whether it is childish or not, most students enjoy going out, getting free candy, and celebrating the spooky season.

Sophomore Angelo Gentile, has not finalized his plans yet, as he is still deciding if he wants to participate in the act of dressing up and going out with friends.

“If I do go out, I’ll probably go out with my friends. I wouldn't mind dressing up even though I myself think it's a little childish. But if someone else dresses up, it's definitely not childish if you wanna dress up. That's cool. Also, the free candies are cool, said Gentile.

For the Halloween fanatics who love going out in costume, it is a perfect opportunity to get the same experience and feel of Halloween as when they were younger.

“I’ll probably go out with my friends on Halloween. I'm being Freddie Krueger this year. I’m pretty excited, I think all ages should go trick or treating… because I mean, it's free candy. It still feels the same as when I was younger, obviously, we’re older now but it is still just as fun.” said junior Amanda Scanlon

A lot of people do miss the fun exhilarating feeling of being a young child going around which is different now since they feel they have grown out of those days. Art teacher Lisa Tucker feels nostalgic about the holiday.

“I think I stopped dressing up around high school or college. I’m pretty sure it was college. I do miss the feeling of dressing up when you were younger and the feeling of being in a costume. This year I’m going to my parent's house to hand out candy and I haven’t decided if I’m going to dress up yet.” said art teacher Lisa Tucker

Brendan Langley, a sophomore, truly has no desire to go out and does not have much care for the holiday.

“I have nothing planned. I have literally nothing planned except for sleeping the entire night.”

Much like Lisa Tucker, Emily Mullaney does not know whether or not she will be dressing up but does know her plans for the day.

“I’m going with my daughter, Ellie to go trick or treating. Our neighborhood closes off some streets and does like a Halloween parade, so I'm taking her to that. I don't actually like dressing up… I'm such a bummer. I don't know, I just never come up with anything creative…I have a penguin onesie that maybe I can put on, but yeah  I'm not very spirited when it comes to Halloween. I do have some decorations and I love candy. I'm very into the candy component of Halloween.”
