Celtics in Six

After the recent four-game sweep by the Boston Celtics of the Brooklyn Nets, Boston fans in the Garden have been especially rowdy and excited for what’s to come because despite the odds they managed to sweep a leading team with two NBA superstars. Now comes another challenge from Milwaukee.

But instead of thinking about that, I’d like to discuss the recent game on Tuesday the 26th as well as how the Celtics managed to pull it off.

Starting lineups consisted of Jason Tatum, Jaylen Brown, Marcus Smart, Daniel Theis ,and Al Horford. Brooklyn responded with Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, Seth Curry, Bruce Brown,  and Andre Drummond.

A core component of the last win the Celtics took against the Nets was the defense against Brooklyn’s main scorers. Kevin Durant managed to switch up his offense in the fourth game of the series but that didn’t stop the Celtics from locking him and Kyrie Irving down for most of the games and some of game 4 leaving both of them combined with a field goal of 19/44. This is less than 50% of their field goal percentage, and the slacking on offense was not made up for on defense which led the Celtics to have a final score of 116. Although it wasn’t a blowout, the Nets were still swept and sent back to Brooklyn.

Looking forward to the playoffs bracket, the next team up will be the Milwaukee Bucks who also had a similar series with the Chicago Bulls ending in four to one with their leading scorers bringing in an average field goal percentage of 21 to 36.

So make sure you clear your schedule for the upcoming games; they will either make or break the Celtics in this playoff season.
