Alanna Keady, a Norwood High alumni, has come back to her old school to join the NHS staff in her first official teaching year in physical education.

A graduate of the NHS class of 2014, Keady attended Merrimack College where she majored in human development and exercise science. After she graduated, she came back to Norwood High where she performed as an aide for two years and loved it so much that she decided to start the process of becoming a licensed teacher.

“I really enjoyed my high school experience here at NHS so I wanted to come back to help students have a positive experience,” said Keady.

During her high school years, Keady participated in indoor and outdoor track and cross country. She has always had a passion for walking, running, hiking, and working out, as she really enjoys being active. She is a great role model for the students and helps them realize the importance and benefits of physical activity and wellness.

Aside from that, you can also find her spending time with her boyfriend, friends, and family during her free time. She loves to go to new places and experience new things with the people she loves.

“If I could have a different occupation I would definitely want to work for Patagonia or North Face and get paid to travel all around the world and visit national parks.”

Being so young, many of the students find it easy to bond with her as they feel like she is someone they can truly trust. She is very attentive and is always focusing on what her students need while still getting the job done.

“Ms. Keady is my favorite gym teacher, she really listens to me and I feel like she appreciates me when other teachers don’t. I just really enjoy talking to her, “ said sophomore Abigail Trahon.

Keady really looks forward to her future years at Norwood High where she can continue to grow and help other students grow as well. She inspires them to choose the right paths and is someone who the students can really look up to. She hopes to remain a wellness teacher at Norwood High School for many years to come, as she loves the environment she is in.

“My favorite part about being a teacher is definitely the bonds I’ve made with my students. Getting to know them all and building relationships is really great,” said Keady.
