Marching band is taking a unique spin on the classic fairytale, Hansel and Gretel with this season’s upcoming show.

Mr. Steven Conant, has been instructing marching band here at the high school for thirty years now. The first thing Mr. Conant wanted to explain was that this show would indeed be a unique adaptation of the classic. “It’s Norwood High’s adaptation of Hansel and Gretel in only eight minutes” he explained.

Viewers can expect creativity with this year's show, having mixed in elements of theater into the production. The story telling method is comparable to last year’s show, Black Swan.

The process had to speed up this year, with the question of the override passing or not hanging over their heads. No actions could be taken until the override issue was dealt with. Once given the "OK" to continue with the show, the process of rehearsals and planning could take place.

Freshman battery member Shylah Hansen explains that the music is a lot more challenging, but the movement, or “drills” as they are called, are a lot simpler. “It’s fun, but a lot of work!” she commented.

The marching band's home show is Sunday, Oct. 20 on the NHS back field.
